Sunidesus Knits

After looking at a number of different string bag patterns I finally went with this one. Partway through the body I decided to try decreasing one stitch so I'd have an odd amount. I thought that'd make the pattern work just doing the same row instead of switching between the two rows. That didn't work. It doesn't affect the structure of the bag, it just has a slightly different pattern for a chunk in the middle. That part shows up in the second photo.

The only problem I have with the bag is that when I'm shopping (I use these for grocery shopping) the opening is so large that it tends to just pool around the outside of the stuff that's in the bag. I made a couple more of these and modified the pattern just a bit on those.

My second string bag.

I modified the pattern a bit for this one... cast on 10 instead of 15 and then 20 rows of garter instead of 32. Picked up 10 stitches per side for a total of 40. Increased to 80 on the first row, the body I did as written. On the decrease row I k2tog all the way around, instead of on half of it. Then 8 rows of garter like the pattern, then k10, bind off 10, k10, bind off 10, and the strap as written.

It's basically just a little bit smaller than the written pattern, and the top is more of a round shape. This one works a lot better when I'm shopping, it stays around whatever I put in it instead of collapsing around the outside.

Third string bag!

This one is basically the same as my last modified string bag, just a different color. The body is slightly shorter as well, closer to 10" until the garter stitch rows instead of the 12" in the pattern.
